Burdorf’s has joined forces with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to provide furnishings for the project currently taking place in Louisville.
The Lampe family from Fairdale, KY was the deserving family that received the new home on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The construction on their new home began on October 22, 2010 and the crews will finish building the completely new house on Thursday October 28, 2010.
Jeff and Shelley Lampe have six children, John, Justin, Dominic, Rita, Maria, and Angela. Numerous medical challenges have faced this brave family and have caused struggles for this close-knit family, which has greatly affected the earning ability. Due to numerous injuries, the father, Jeff Lampe has had to considerably scale back on the amount of work he is capable of. Despite the injuries, Mr. Lampe continued to work through the pain in order to contribute to his family.
They have a beautiful 3 year old daughter, Angela, who has special needs. As a Down Syndrome child, the family has many past and anticipated medical expenses that are associated with her care. Angela is the musician of the family and loves to sing and play her keyboard.
Mrs. Lampe teaches at St. Xavier High School, where the three boys, John, 16, Justin, 14 and Dominic, 12 are all competitive wrestlers. John and Justin won state in their respected classes, and Dominic placed fourth in state in his class. Mrs. Lampe teaches in exchange for her children’s tuition at St. Xavier High School.
The other two girls in the family are Rita, 10, who loves animals, especially rabbits and horses, and Maria, 6, who is the family artist that loves to paint and work on craft projects.
The house took only 7 days to build from the ground up. Crews worked around the clock with the help of approximately 1,200 volunteers.
